Founded in 1923, Francotyp-Postalia can now look back on over 100 years of company history as an internationally active company with headquarters in Berlin (Germany).
With 15 subsidiaries in Germany, the USA, Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Sweden, FP is represented in all major global mail communication markets. In addition, the FP Group is active worldwide through more than 80 dealers. Below we present the milestones of our corporate development.
2025
After almost 20 years on the stock exchange, Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG makes the strategic and future-oriented decision to delist the company and starts this process with a share buyback.
2024
ONE FP: Creating Tomorrow - FP continues to be the market leader for franking machines in Germany and is also in demand as an established provider of software/hardware for office communication.
As of this year, FP is offering eBO. The electronic mailbox for citizens and organizations is used by companies and organizations as well as any consulting and legal service providers to transmit sensitive information and electronic files to courts and to receive documents delivered by the court directly in the same way. The eBO has been in place since 2022, whereby the electronic mailbox is based on the established communication system EGVP (electronic court and administrative mailbox). From 2024, all professional parties to proceedings will be obliged to set up an eBO for the receipt of electronic documents.
2023
FP strengthens its digital solution portfolio and offers FP TRAXSuite. This establishes FP as an expert in internal delivery logistics: a new era of parcel, registered mail and postal management begins.
2022
FP has reached an agreement with Azolver Holding GmbH to acquire all shares in the operating companies of Azolver.
Azolver mainly sells hardware for mail processing (franking machines) and also offers software for asset tracking and parcel shipping.
2021
IAB Communications GmbH and Mentana-Claimsoft GmbH operate jointly under the name "FP Digital Business Solutions GmbH"

IAB Communications GmbH was merged with Mentana-Claimsoft GmbH on November 4, 2021. Both companies are now pooling their expertise under the name "FP Digital Business Solutions GmbH".
2020
FP strengthens its franking and inserting business area with the acquisition of HEFTER Systemform GmbH from Prien am Chiemsee. The company has been a specialist in the optimization of post, mailing and print processing for over 50 years and offers a comprehensive range of services. HEFTER Systemform is known in the industry for its high level of quality and service, which will continue to be guaranteed in the future. The HEFTER service centers in Germany will therefore continue to operate.
2019
Connected2tomorrow. This year, FP is ushering in a new era in the franking machine sector. The PostBase Vision takes innovative franking technology made in Germany to a new level. The PostBase Vision impresses with its exceptionally high quality and many innovative and digital features. With the FP portal MyFP, FP opens the gateway to the digital FP world for its customers.
2016
FP launches the PostBase ONE franking machine flagship, providing customers with a modern and complete range of franking machines from the PostBase Mini to the PostBase One. All systems communicate via an easy-to-configure LAN interface and allow customers to receive lightning-fast software updates, postage rates and new advertising clichés via the web.
2014
FP moves to Berlin. After more than 20 years in Birkenwerder, Brandenburg, Francotyp-Postalia relocates its headquarters to Berlin-Pankow. In November, more than 200 FP employees from administration, IT, research and development and other departments move into their new offices at Prenzlauer Promenade 28.
2012
FP launches the innovative PostBase franking system. This makes the FP Group the first to launch a product on the market that combines physical and electronic letter communication. FP Mentana-Claimsoft is the first company ever to receive accreditation as a De-Mail provider from the German Federal Office for Information Security.
2011
Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG acquires Mentana-Claimsoft AG. At the end of 2011, the FP Group receives approval for the French market and can start selling MyMail in France, the largest European market for franking machines.
2007
Francotyp-Postalia launches its high-tech franking machine CentorMail.
2006
FP goes public. Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG is founded in the same year. Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG goes public on November 30, 2006.
2005
Francotyp-Postalia leaves the Röchling Group and is sold to Quadriga Capital and the FP management.
2004
A FRANKIT®-capable franking machine is approved for the first time. This meets the highest security standards.
2002
This year sees the launch of the new MyMail, OptiMail and UltiMail franking machine generation.
1997
FP-Direkt, an FP subsidiary responsible for telemarketing, is founded.
1994
FP centralizes its factory, technology and administration in Germany.
1990
A fully electronic franking machine with thermal transfer printing is launched on the market for the first time - by FP.
1983
The holding company Francotyp-Postalia GmbH is founded.
1960
Postalia "goes America" and receives approval as the only non-American franking machine provider in the United States.

The foundation stone is laid: On July 11, 1923, the distribution company Postfreistempler GmbH, Bielefeld, is founded by Anker, Bafra and Uhrenfabrik Furtwängler.
